Shoegaze (or Shoegazer) radio stations play music that emerged in the UK in the 1980s. The name describes the tendancy for the bands to remain static whilst playing, often using effects pedals and hence 'gazing' downwards. Shoegaze bands often make use of layered and indistinct vocal melodies with guitar lines that have heavy effects applied to them.
